Novartis AG said Thursday that Swiss competition-authority officers visited the company’s headquarters as part of an investigation into a patent assertion.
The investigation is being carried out by the Swiss Competition Commission, or COMCO, in collaboration with the European Union’s executive arm the European Commission, the pharmaceutical company

The investigation, which is looking into Novartis’s assertion of a patent in the broader field of dermatology treatments, doesn’t imply any wrongdoing or financial impact, the company said. COMCO representatives have visited the company’s offices in Basel, Switzerland, Novartis said, adding that it is cooperating with the authorities and is confident of clarifying its position.
